People at HEIRA
TEJASWINI NIRANJANA is Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore. She has a PhD (1988) from the University of California at Los Angeles. Her books include Mobilizing India: Women, Music and Migration between India and Trinidad (2006) and Siting Translation: History, Post-structuralism and the Colonial Context (1992). She heads the Higher Education Innovation and Research Applications (HEIRA) programme at CSCS, with the mandate of designing and implementing programmes for the positive transformation of the higher education sector in India. She is also Visiting Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, and Visiting Faculty at the Centre for Contemporary Studies, Indian Institute of Science (CCS-IISc), Bangalore. Arkalgud Ramaprasad is Research Fellow at HEIRA-CSCS.He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA (1980); MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India (1972); and B.E. (Electrical), from the University of Mysore, Karnataka, India(1970). His current research focus is the application of ontological analysis and design for architecting large, complex systems in health care, higher education, and business. At HEIRA he works on issues related to policy-making in the higher education sector. He is Visiting Professor, School of Business Administration, University of Miami and Emeritus Professor, College of Business Administration, University of Illinois at Chicago.
ASHWIN KUMAR A.P. is Research Coordinator at HEIRA. He has an MA from Bangalore University, and is completing his PhD at the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society. His main interest is in Indian languages in higher education, and in faculty development. He is currently Assistant Professor in English at Tumkur University.
TANVEER HASAN A.K is Research Coordinator at HEIRA. He has an MA in English Literature from the University of Mysore, and is presently working on his PhD from the same university. He has taught at the Department of English, PG Centre (Hasan), University of Mysore. His research interests include language and questions of social justice.
MAITHREYI MULUPURU is Research Associate at HEIRA. She has an LLM from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge (2003) and a BA.LLB (Hons.) from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore (2002). She has been a Visiting Professor at NLSIU, and a Lecturer at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. She has also been on the faculty of the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal. Her research interests are in the area of Gender and Legal Education. She is currently working towards a PhD at the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society.
P.P. SNEHA is Programme Associate at HEIRA. She has an MA in English from St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Sciences, Postgraduate and Research Centre, University of Bangalore. At HEIRA, she works on issues of diversity and inclusiveness in education, as well as general programme development, research and documentation.
SHEETAL NANDANWAR is Administrative Assistant at HEIRA, and looks after the general administration and coordination of activities. She has a degree in Science and several years of experience with different organisations.
